about Mr. Kivett

Nothing speaks to our humanity more deeply, fully, or completely than music. The very best music is that which reaches our humanity most fully. That which makes us human is not determined by era, fashion, or popularity, so the very best music remains great regardless of when it was composed. This is why we still consider Bach a genius, while Buxtehüde, Glock, and dozens of other composers writing music at the same time have been largely forgotten.

My goal as a music educator is to not only to develop skills that will enable musical performance at a high level, but to elevate my students’ awareness of their humanity, as well as of the greatest music ever composed, to effect greater affection, compassion, and love for their fellow man.
